Rohiya Missionaries

Ashley Murphy

Ashley, known as Abena in Ghana, is originally from Lyons, Georgia. Ashley grew up closely watching her family in ministry and always had a heart and passion for working with vulnerable children in need. Ashley went on her first mission trip in the Summer of 2007 where she shadowed and worked alongside a missionary couple in Alaska, primarily working with children. This trip opened her eyes to the challenges and joys of full-time missionary life. It was this trip that sealed her call into the mission-field! Ashley graduated with a BA in early Childhood Education, and after years of serving in child and student ministries within the Free Will Baptist and United Methodist Church, she moved to South Korea for a yearlong mission trip. It was during this mission that Ashley grew in confidence and discovered the joy and opportunities to reach the lost through mission work. Ashley’s work in South Korea included teaching at a missionary school, volunteering with an orphanage, and teaching small groups Bible studies. It was at this point that God placed the desire and passion to serve in orphanages fulltime on Ashley’s heart. Upon returning stateside from her South Korea mission, Ashley accepted a position to teach at a Christian school in Ghana. It was at this junction that Ashley met co-worker Linda Ghartey, who she now serves alongside as full-time missionaries with Rohiya Foundation. Ashley has a MA in Counseling Psychology and is currently attending Bible College to study Missions as she works with Rohiya Foundation to lead children to Christ.

Linda Ghartey

My name is Linda Anima Ghartey and I come from Ghana, West Africa. I love to sing and read. I serve as a worship leader and children’s teacher at my Local Ministry. I volunteer as a teacher and administrator at Kids at Heart International School, and I am currently serving as the Director of the Rohiya Foundation in Ghana. I facilitate a Good-News Club at the Rohiya Foundation where we share the truth of the Gospel and the love of God with underserved children.

I started doing volunteer work in 2019, after I lost my job, and I felt the Lord leading me to a higher calling other than always living for self and financial gains. I have a passion to see more children around the world saved and equipped to be a positive influence in their societies.

I began teaching children at the age of 13, and throughout my teaching, I realized the importance of sharing the message of salvation with people at a young age. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” That is the reason why I created the Rohiya Foundation, which seeks to reach out to underserved children in our community with the Gospel, as well as help them emotionally, educationally, and financially.
